TS Police Support League, Inc. issues $10,000.00 Challenge Grant to Greene County Historical Society

EUTAW: The T.S. Police Support League, Inc. (www.greenecountylawenforcement.org) has pledged a matching grant to the Greene County Historical Society to be used for repairs to the historic Vaughn-Morrow House in Eutaw, which serves as headquarters for the society and its annual pilgrimage. All donations received between now and March 1, up to $10,000.00, will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the league. This donation is being made in memory of Thomas C. Smith, a former president of the Greene County Historical Society. TSPSL, Inc. President Sheila Smith said, "We are proud to partner with the GCHS to help preserve one of the historic treasures in our community." T.S. Police Support League Helps Greene County Seniors and Youth at Christmas

EUTAW- On December 22 and 23, TS Police Support League, Inc. in partnership with Mrs. Miriam Leftwich presented Christmas gift bags to every resident of the Greene County Health System Nursing Home in Eutaw, as well as giving out gift bags for area children just in time for the holidays. Mindful of COVID-19 Chinese virus safety, the children's distribution was done via a drive-thru system.


TS Police Support League President Sheila Smith said, "Christmas is a most special time and we are blessed to continue to give back to the community we proudly call home." TS Police Support League Treasurer Billy McFarland said, "Thanks to Sheriff Jonathan "Joe" Benison, TS Police Support League was able to donate more than $2 million back to the community in 2020-- a new record for us."

TSPSLI continues and expands annual Christmas tradition!

The TS Police Support League, Inc. continued its annual Christmas tradition of providing MasterCard gift cards to city employees and police officers.  This year, over $20,000.00 in $250 gift cards were distributed to the workers, Greene County Sheriff Department staff, plus the Forkland Police Department and staff of Carver Housing Authority.

 

League President Sheila Smith said, “Merry Christmas to all city workers and county law enforcement officers.  You work hard every day year-round for our community, and we appreciate you.”

 

League Secretary/ Treasurer Billy McFarland said, “Thanks to the opportunity given us by Greene County Sheriff Joe Benison, the TSPSLI donated over $2 million to the greater Greene County community in 2020.”

TSPSLI and Greene County Sheriff's 2nd Annual Great Turkey Giveaway

EUTAW- In their Second Annual Great Turkey Giveaway, Greene County Sheriff Jonathan "Joe" Benison and the TS Police Support League, Inc. distributed over 1300 turkeys to the Greene County community on Saturday, November 21, 2020. This number was markedly higher than the 800 turkeys distributed last year. TS Police Support League President Sheila Smith said, "We are happy to partner with the Sheriff's Department to bring Thanksgiving joy to the citizens of Greene County." TS Police Support League Treasurer Billy McFarland said, "2020 has been a challenging year for us all. Thankfully, due to Sheriff Benison's leadership of electronic bingo, we once again donated over $2 million back to the greater Greene County community this year." Eutaw Mayor Latasha Johnson was onsite lending a hand for the event.

TS Police Support League, Inc. Donates $3,000.00 in Christmas gift cards for needy Greene County kids and seniors

The T. S. Police Support League, Inc. donated $3,000.00 in Christmas gifts cards for needy Greene County kids and seniors to the “Love Tree,” which is a branch of REACH Inc., a non-profit 501©3 organization that gives gifts to needy children (from Newborns to 18-year-olds in High School) and the elderly at Christmas time.

 

T.S. Police Support League President Sheila Smith said, “This is the second year that we have proudly sponsored this important community initiative. With the challenges of the ongoing pandemic, we wanted to step up again and provide a good Christmas gift to deserving kids and seniors in Greene County.”

 

T.S. Police Support League Secretary/ Treasurer Billy McFarland said, “Donations like these would not be possible without the bingo license granted us by Sheriff Jonathan “Joe” Benison.  We are on record to donate more that $2 million back to the Greene County community this year.  Don’t believe the lies you read in the newspaper.  We are an example of bingo helping the citizens of Greene County.”

TS Police Support League, Inc. and Greene County Sheriff's Office hosted a COVID-19 virus supply giveaway and partnered with Compass Laboratory Services for COVID-19 testing on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Greene County Jail Annex parking lot.  In addition to distributing 500 COVID-19 supply bags to those being tested, extra bags were furnished to the Greene County Hospital and Nursing Home.  "COVID-19 has hit rural areas of Alabama disproportionately hard, and we are grateful to Greene County Sheriff Jonathan "Joe" Benison and Compass Laboratory Services for helping us provide virus supplies and testing to the citizens of Greene County," said TSPSL, Inc. President Sheila Smith.  The TS Police Support League, Inc. has donated millions of dollars to the greater Greene County community since 2016, serving with a purpose.         

 

TS Police Support League Donates to local Catholic Social Service ministry

On Friday, September 4, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the TS Police Support League presented a $5000.00 donation to Guadelupean Sister Marta for their social service ministry.  League President Sheila Smith presented the donation and said, “We are honored to support the important outreach ministry that the sisters provide the citizens of Greene County.  During the Pandemic, the sisters’ work is even more important.”  League Treasurer Billy McFarland said, “We thank Sheriff Jonathan “Joe” Benison for making this opportunity possible.  Thanks to him, the TS Police Support League is on track to donate well over $2 million to the local Greene County community this year.”   

TSPSLI Hires 40 Greene County Youth for 2nd Annual Summer Jobs Program

TS Police Support League, Inc. hired forty Greene County youth for summer jobs, assisting area businesses and local governments. “We thank each business and government office that afforded an opportunity to forty Greene County youth who earned extra money while learning valuable job skills,” said League President Sheila Smith. League Secretary/ Treasurer Billy McFarland said, “Special thanks to LaJeffery Carpenter who helped recruit the students and managed the program. We hope to have even more youth jobs next summer, all thanks to Sheriff Joe Benison for the opportunity to serve.”
